We have an update on a story we first broke on our Facebook Page as an initial alert in reference to a male subject who had broken into a home breaking windows in the Montesano area.

According to Chief Criminal Deputy Schrader, he says that on 4-13-21 at 2:06 pm, deputies were dispatch to a burglary in the 100 block of Monte-Brady Rd in Montesano, after a resident in the area reported that an unknown man was just located in her house and was armed with a golf club.

It was later determined that the suspect broke out several windows of a vehicle parked at the incident location and also broke out a window on the front door of the incident location.

The resident confronted the man inside her house and the man struck a container off a counter with the golf club before leaving the area on foot.

Several Grays Harbor County Sheriff's deputies, along with officers of the Montesano Police Department, Elma Police Department, and WA State Department of Fish and Wildlife all responded to the scene to assist.

Officers began searching the area for the suspect and began setting up containment in the area for a K-9 search.  An Aberdeen Officer and his K-9 partner were then called to the scene to assist in locating the suspect.

While waiting for the arrival of the K-9 unit, a vigilant bystander reported just seeing a man matching the suspect's description climbing a fence in the neighborhood with a golf club in his hand.  Officers responded to the area and located the suspect who was taken into custody without incident.

The 26 year old suspect was booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for Burglary 1st Degree and Malicious Mischief 1st Degree.  Deputies were concerned for the suspects mental health and an evaluation has been requested.

Mason County Fire District 11 was dispatched to a commercial building fire alarm at the Port of Shelton Tuesday evening at 9:15pm.  While en route 911 dispatch upgraded the alarm to a confirmed structure fire with flames through the roof.

On arrival, fire crews took a defensive attack on a large manufacturing building.  The response was quickly upgraded to a 3 alarm structure fire utilizing 3 fill size ladder trucks.  Crews were able to protect surrounding buildings containing the fire to just the involved structure.

There were no injuries reported at the time of their press release and the fire is under investigation
