A 44-year-old Pe Ell man was killed in a traffic collision Saturday evening after a teen driver swerved to avoid a deer colliding with his vehicle as a result. 

The Washington State Patrol says that the incident occurred on June 26th at 11:23 PM on State Route 6 in the 6000 block in Lewis County.  

The teen driver, 17 years old a Raymond resident was traveling on SR 6 going westbound driving a 2018 Hyundai Elantra.  A deer in the roadway caused the teen to swerve into the eastbound lanes where he then struck a 1988 Volkswagen driven by a 44-year-old Pe Ell man.  The 44-year-old was deceased at the scene, a passenger a 50-year-old Pe Ell woman was transported to Providence for her injuries.

Sadly, the motorcycle collisions continue this week with similar stories, speed and unsafe lane changes.  The Washington State Patrol says that a 33-year-old Tenino man was killed in such collision Friday night, June 24th just after 10:30 PM.

The collision occurred on northbound US 101 just prior to the Mud Bay RD exit, The motorcyclist on a Honda FXST CR was in lane 2 (fast lane) approaching a gold 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 59-year-old Ocean Shores man.  The motorcyclist attempted to pass the Tahoe on the right side and struck the Tahoe leaving the roadway to the right. The motorcycle came to rest in the ditch. 

The Tenino man was airlifted to Harborview, Seattle for his injuries.

The right lane was blocked for two hours and fifty-nine minutes.

While the cause of the collision is still under investigation, the Washington State Patrol has confirmed that a 27-year-old Elma woman was killed in an incident that occurred at 9:30 Friday morning, June 24th.  

The collision occurred on westbound State Route 8 at milepost 3 just east of the rest area.  The motorcycle rider on a red Honda CBR600 was traveling in the slow lane (lane one of two) westbound on State Route 8, struck the guardrail on the right shoulder and was ejected from the motorcycle.  The rider was thrown onto the roadway and then was struck by a Ford F150 driven by a 69-year-old Olympia man.  

Due to the incident just clearing, we will not be releasing the name of the motorcycle rider, but looking at social media posts, the motorcycle rider just got the Honda CBR600 just less than 24 hours ago. 

The roadway was blocked for investigation for 4 hours.
