If you listen to scanner radio traffic it comes to no surprise that shoplifting from local stores is an epidemic and cause of some of the consumer cost increases. We typically hear at least 10 - 15 calls for shoplifters daily.

The Aberdeen Police Depatment says On March 9th, 2024, the Aberdeen Police Department partnered with Walmart to conduct a shoplifting blitz. The blitz resulted in multiple arrests, and most were booked into the Aberdeen City Jail. 

During the blitz, officers were involved in a foot pursuit and the suspect taken into custody about ¼ mile away from the store. 

Approximately $1100 in stolen property was recovered.
