The city of Hoquiam will not be allowing all terrain vehicles on city streets. Citing safety concerns and a highway that splits the city, the council voted unanimously last night to ban ATV’s after the recommendation from their public safety committee.

Prior to the vote, the council also discussed the gas-powered bicycles that you may have heard around the city. Councilman Dave Wilson asked, “Are those bicycles that they ride around, that are really loud, are they legal to be riding around?”The short answer from City Administrator Brian Shay last night was no, they’re not legal. A longer answer is complicated.
