A High Wind Watch is issued when the following conditions are possible:
1) sustained winds of 40 mph or higher for one hour or more
OR
2) wind gusts of 58 mph or higher for any duration.

A High Wind Warning is issued when the following conditions are expected:
1) sustained winds of 40 mph or higher for one hour or more
OR
2) wind gusts of 58 mph or higher for any duration.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a High Wind Watch, which is in effect from late tonight through Monday evening.
* WIND...Winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph possible.
* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...Highest winds in the areas nearest the waters.
* TIMING...Winds will increase late Monday night with the strongest winds Monday afternoon and evening. Winds will diminish late Monday night.
* IMPACTS...Winds could cause some tree damage with associated power outages.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A High Wind Watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
