ABERDEEN, Wash. — A Westport woman suffered serious injuries in a collision involving a motorcycle and pickup truck Friday afternoon at an Aberdeen intersection.

According to information released by the Aberdeen Police Department, officers responded at approximately 12:35 p.m. on September 18 to a reported vehicle-versus-motorcycle collision at West State Street and South Alder Street.

A preliminary investigation found that the 54-year-old motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on West State Street when a 2022 Ford F-150 entered the intersection from South Alder Street.

Police said the pickup, driven by a 45-year-old Poulsbo man, had stopped at a posted stop sign in the 400 block of South Alder Street before proceeding into the intersection.

The motorcyclist attempted to avoid the pickup but was unable to prevent the collision.

Aberdeen Fire Department personnel responded and transported the woman to Harbor Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

An update provided by those close to the motorcyclist indicates that she sustained multiple serious injuries in the collision and is undergoing surgery. Her injuries include damage to her ankle and pelvis that will require surgical repair, along with additional internal injuries that doctors are addressing and continuing to evaluate. Despite the extent of her injuries, she is reportedly being kept comfortable and remains in good spirits as treatment continues.

According to Aberdeen Police, the driver of the Ford F-150 was issued an infraction for failing to yield the right of way to the motorcycle.

The collision remains a reminder for drivers to take additional time to look for motorcycles and other smaller vehicles before entering or crossing a roadway.
