WESTPORT, Wash. — The Westport Police Department continues to investigate the disappearance of a missing and endangered person following an extensive multi-day search effort at Westport Light State Park over the weekend.

The investigation began on or around Friday, July 31, 2026, after officers responded to the state park following a report of a suspicious individual. Police later determined that the person contacted was not the individual who would later be reported missing. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area that evening, but no evidence or persons of concern were located.

On Saturday morning, an officer was alerted to a motorcycle that had been sitting in the Westport Light State Park parking lot for approximately two days. Officers contacted the owner's family, who provided information that significantly increased concerns for the individual's safety.

Based on the unattended motorcycle and the information received from family members, the Westport Police Department immediately launched a search operation. Officers utilized both drone technology and ground search teams while keeping the state park open to the public. Despite extensive efforts throughout the day, investigators were unable to develop any significant leads.

Search efforts intensified on Sunday as additional search and rescue resources from around the region joined the operation. Authorities received several tips from the public throughout the day. While investigators were able to verify and incorporate some of the information into the investigation, other reported sightings and leads were determined to be unrelated.

By the end of Sunday's operations, officials said all available leads had been thoroughly investigated, and the active search was suspended pending the development of new information.

The Westport Police Department remains in close contact with the missing person's family and says the investigation remains active. The individual has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a missing person, and any new information received will be investigated.
