6-year-ol Struck in Hit and Run Incident In Aberdeen; Suspect Arrested

Aberdeen, WA – April 3, 2026 – A 6-year-old child was injured in a hit-and-run collision Friday evening at the intersection of West First Street and North Alder Street in Aberdeen.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:39 p.m. after reports that a child had been struck by a vehicle while crossing N. Alder Street in a marked crosswalk with two older juveniles.

Investigators determined the suspect vehicle, described as a black sport utility vehicle, had been stopped at a red traffic signal on W. First Street. The driver reportedly made a right turn on red and struck the child, driving over her before leaving the scene.

Witnesses provided officers with a description of the vehicle along with a license plate number. With assistance from the Hoquiam Police Department, the vehicle was later located at a residence in Hoquiam. Officers contacted the suspected driver at the residence, where the individual admitted to operating the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Aberdeen City Jail on suspicion of Felony Hit and Run.

The Aberdeen Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the child to Harbor Regional Hospital. Authorities report the child’s injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
