Traffic to and from Ocean Shores and Hoquiam were impacted for several hours yesterday Saturday April 5th, 2025 during peak tourist travel time with the sunny weather we had. The cause. a trailer came free from the truck that was pulling it, struck a passenger vehicle causing it to roll, later blocking the roadway.

The collision occurred at 1:32 PM on State Route 109 near mile marker 14 prior to Hogans Corner and SR 115 when a 2009 Dodge Ram driven by a 57 year old Elma man towing a 2018 homemade trailer traveling northbound on SR 109 had the trailer come free from the truck, striking a 2021 Hyundai Tucson driven by a 65 year old Aberdeen woman, her vehicle then rolled and went into the northbound ditch.
Radio traffic did indicate that the Aberdeen woman had been trapped in her vehicle, and according to the WSP report she was air lifted to Tacoma General for her injuries.
The cause of the collision is unsecure trailer. with charges still under investigation for the drive of the Dodge Ram. No drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
