The Hoquiam Police Department has put out a little bit of information regarding an altercation that resulted in one subject being shot in the early morning of June 1st, 2024 near the YMCA.

On 06/01/24 at approximately 12:30am Hoquiam officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Aberdeen Aveneu for a reported shooting.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a 29-year-old Hoquiam man lying in the YMCA parking lot, suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was treated and transported to Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital for treatment. The last update was that he had been transferred to a hospital in Tacoma and in stable condition.

Initial investigation has found the Hoquiam man and a 31-year-old Ocean Shores man went to a residence in the 2400 block of Aberdeen Avenue and got into an altercation with the residents, resulting in the 29-year-old being shot.

The investigation continues today. This is an isolated incident with no threats to the public.
