The Washington State Patrol says that the collision occurred on State Route 12 at milepost 29, which is just west of Gibson Creek Rd on Monday, April 29th at 1:02 pm.

The causing driver of the collision an 80-year-old Elma man was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus westbound when he crossed the center line going into the eastbound lanes colliding with a blue 2002 Kenworth log truck and trailer head on driven by a 51 year old Morton man.

While the WSP report says that the passenger vehicle came to rest in the ditch in the eastbound direction radio traffic indicated it went down an embankment and was located near the railroad tracks. Civilians and the driver of the log truck had begun searching for where the passenger vehicle had gone to after the collision.

Airlift was requested for transport for the 80-year-old where he was flown to the scene to Harborview medical center where he was later pronounced deceased.

While they have stated next of kin have been notified, and a name released, we here at GHScanner want to give family time to be notified better before we release that information.

The driver of the log truck did not get transported from the scene of the collision but we are told through comments of our original social media post, he was on his way to get checked out.
