ABERDEEN, Wash. — An Aberdeen resident is asking for the community’s help after her dog was fatally shot during a storm on the evening of December 16, 2025.
Jessey, who lives on Farrell Street in Aberdeen, says the incident occurred between approximately 9:10 and 9:15 p.m. while severe weather was impacting the area. She briefly let her dog outside to use the restroom. The dog, a Border Collie described as intelligent and well-trained, had been restless after being indoors due to the storm.

According to Jessey, the dog unexpectedly ran down Farrell Street—behavior that was highly unusual. Within minutes, the dog returned to the residence suffering from a gunshot wound.
With no emergency veterinary clinics open in Grays Harbor County at the time, Jessey immediately rushed her dog to Olympia in an attempt to save her life. Tragically, the dog died en route.
A police report has been filed, but at this time there are no known suspects or leads in the case.
Jessey is now asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything that night to come forward. She is especially seeking residents in the Farrell Street area who may have security cameras, doorbell cameras, or other surveillance footage that could have captured activity around the time of the incident.
“This wasn’t just my pet—she was my best friend and my daily companion,” Jessey said. “I’m disabled, and she helped me with everyday tasks. I don’t have children; she was my family.”
Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact local law enforcement or call 911. Community members with relevant video footage from the area during that timeframe are encouraged to review their recordings and report anything suspicious.
Jessey hopes that sharing her story will lead to answers and accountability.
