Council member Miles Wenzel has submitted his letter of resignation from the
Cosmopolis City Council, effective September 23, 2023.

While Wenzel told staff that the decision was not easy, personal reasons and
changes brought the need to step down from his position.

Mayor Kyle Pauley stated, “Miles played a vital role on the City Council in his
two years serving residents. His work on numerous committees and insight into
difficult issues was invaluable.”, adding, “With this resignation it will mean an
entirely new slate of public officials within Cosmopolis as the remaining four
council seats are up for election with candidates who have not held local office.”

Wenzel was appointed to the City Council in 2021 following the death of Council member Dale Andrews before being elected by voters in the 2021 General Election to a full term.

With an appointment to Wenzel’s Position 5, whoever joins the City Council could enter into 2024 as the most experienced public official serving Cosmopolis residents. Positions 1-4 are currently up for election in November, as well as the Mayor seat.

Cosmopolis residents eligible to hold public office under RCW 35A.12.030 are encouraged to submit a letter of intent and resume to the City of Cosmopolis by mail to PO Box 2007, Cosmopolis, WA 98537 or emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots.
