A High Wind Watch is issued when the following conditions are possible:
1) sustained winds of 40 mph or higher for one hour or more
OR
2) wind gusts of 58 mph or higher for any duration.

A High Wind Warning is issued when the following conditions are expected:
1) sustained winds of 40 mph or higher for one hour or more
OR
2) wind gusts of 58 mph or higher for any duration.

HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON...
The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a High Wind Watch, which is in effect from late Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon.
* WIND...Southerly wind 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Strongest winds will be along the beaches and near the shoreline of Grays Harbor.
* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...La Push, Neah Bay, Westport, Hoquiam. * TIMING...Winds will increase rapidly late Wednesday night and continue into Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Snapped tree branches and downed trees along with local power outages.
