ABERDEEN, Wash. — A reported burglary at a local towing company Sunday morning led to a lengthy standoff and the arrest of a 27-year-old Florida woman, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 9:56 a.m. on June 14, 2026, to CMA Towing, located at 1901 Westport Road, after receiving a report of a burglary in progress.
According to police, the business owner reported that a female suspect had forced her way through the property's gate, broken a window on a vehicle, and entered the vehicle. When confronted by the owner, the suspect allegedly exited the vehicle, pushed the owner, and fled the area on foot.
A short time later, an Aberdeen police officer spotted the suspect walking near Westport Road. Officers then located her standing in approximately two-and-a-half feet of water in a roadside ditch near a tree line.
Police say the situation quickly escalated when the suspect began displaying self-harming behavior. During the encounter, she reportedly held a pair of scissors to her neck and was seen running the blade across her neck, arm, wrist, and tongue.

Authorities ultimately entered the water and, following a brief struggle, safely took the woman into custody without serious injury.
Personnel from the Aberdeen Fire Department responded to evaluate the suspect at the scene. She was transported to Harbor Regional Hospital for medical treatment before being medically cleared and released.
Following her release from the hospital, the suspect was booked into the Aberdeen City Jail on charges of burglary, assault, resisting arrest, and several additional charges that may be filed as the investigation continues.
No officers were reported injured during the incident.
The case remains under investigation by the Aberdeen Police Department.
