PACIFIC COUNTY, WA – September 12, 2025 – The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office has released details of a multi-jurisdictional incident that began in Ocean Park and ended with an arrest in Astoria, Oregon.
On September 8, at approximately 8:01 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a man believed to be a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. While responding, a deputy spotted the suspect’s vehicle near Pacific Way and 116th Place and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to yield, initiating a pursuit.

According to investigators, the suspect drove at high speeds, swerving recklessly and nearly striking other vehicles. The chase continued onto the Megler Bridge before deputies terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns.
Astoria Police later located the vehicle in Oregon. Surveillance footage showed the suspect abandoning the car and discarding what appeared to be a firearm. A revolver was later recovered in the same area. Witnesses also reported the suspect entering a convenience store bathroom, where he trimmed his facial hair in an apparent attempt to change his appearance.
That evening, Astoria officers located the man at a local motel and placed him under arrest. He was booked on charges including DUI, narcotics possession, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Authorities confirmed he remains in custody in Oregon pending extradition to Washington, where he faces additional charges of unlawful firearm possession and attempting to elude law enforcement.
The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation for the assistance of the Washington State Patrol, Astoria Police Department, Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, and regional dispatchers.
