Just before midnight June 25th, 2025, a motorcycle was observed driving at a high rate of speed through the Olympic Highway (SR 12) area. Deputy Tyson Johnson attempted to stop the motorcycle on Olympic Highway near Deer Park going westbound. The rider failed to yield and fled, initiating a pursuit.
Deputy Johnson briefly lost sight of the motorcycle near Copland Road and discontinued the pursuit. Moments later, the motorcycle was spotted again heading eastbound on Olympic Highway. Deputy Johnson attempted to stop the motorcycle a second time. The motorcycle turned around at Aberdeen Lake Rd and headed westbound a second time. Deputy Johnson was unable to catch up to the motorcycle.
A short time later, a Washington State Patrol Trooper advised that the motorcycle had crashed just west of the Wishkah Bridge, and they had the driver detained. According to county jail records, the subject arrested for eluding is Steven Walkley.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. There was minor property damage to a fence, and the motorcycle rider was arrested and booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for felony eluding.
We want to thank our law enforcement partners for their swift assistance and remind everyone that fleeing from police puts lives at risk and has the potential to not end well.
