UPDATE: Hit And Run Driver That Killed An Aberdeen Bicyclist New Year's Day In Custody

January 9th, 2024 the Washington State Patrol has updated our story as they have a person in custody for Hit and Run and Vehicular Homicide.  
They say that WSP detectives have taken a 64-year-old man Michael Everson according to the Grays Harbor County Jail Roster into custody with the assistance of the Ocean Shores Police Department, who were able to locate the vehicle and later probably cause for the arrest was made. 

The Washington State Patrol still does not have any suspect information on a vehicle and driver who struck and killed a bicyclist on New Year's Day just outside of Ocean City State Park near Ocean Shores.

The collision occurred Monday, January 1st, 2024 around 1:38 PM on State Route 115 between milepost 1 and 2 near Ocean City State Park entrance.  From what they have been able to determine, a 55-year-old Aberdeen man (name not disclosed pending family notification) was traveling northbound on SR 115 at milepost 2 when he was struck from behind and landed in blackberry bushes off the northbound shoulder of SR 115.  

The bicyclist was deceased at the scene, and there was no witness accounts of the incident.  At the time of the WSP report there was no description or suspect information.
