We have an update this afternoon to an incident GHS first posted on its Facebook Page and GHScanner alert app for subscribers where on Saturday 12th January a person was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed.

More from Lt. Chastain APD;
A 26-year old Aberdeen man was stabbed with a nail Saturday afternoon (January 12th) during a physical altercation. At 12:45 PM Aberdeen Police responded to the alley at 2nd St. and F St., after the victim asked nearby residents to call the police. The suspect had left the scene when police arrived moments later. Aberdeen Fire Department responded and transported the victim to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

While officers were speaking with the victim, the 48-year old suspect (an Aberdeen resident) walked to the Aberdeen Police Department, where he reported that he had been involved in an altercation and stabbed the victim in self-defense. The suspect reported he had been receiving threats from the victim over a relationship matter. At the alley, the verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which the suspect claimed he was struck by the victim. As they were fighting, the suspect reportedly found a large nail on the ground and he stabbed the suspect with the nail. The suspect willingly provided a statement about his involvement in the event.

The victim was interviewed at the hospital. He was very uncooperative with officers, reporting he did not want to press criminal charges against the suspect. The victim subsequently signed a waiver of prosecution related to the incident.

Officers spoke with the Grays Harbor County Prosecutor’s Officer about the matter, and the suspect was booked into the Aberdeen Police Jail facility over the weekend pending the outcome of the investigation. As of Monday morning, the matter is being referred to the Aberdeen City Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of charges on both individuals for either Assault 4th Degree or Disorderly Conduct.
