We have an update this morning on the incident that occurred on North Washington Street early Christmas morning where one man was shot.

Lt. Dale Green with the Aberdeen Police Department has more below.

On 12/25/2018 at approximately 1:26 AM, Aberdeen Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting that just occurred in the 400 block of North Washington Street.

Aberdeen Police Officers located both the male victim and the male that had fired a shot at him outside a residence.

Police Officers secured the male that had fired the shot and applied a tourniquet to the 28-year-old man with the gunshot wound to the leg.  Aberdeen Fire Department Paramedics arrived and transported the injured man to Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

The 54-year-old homeowner who fired the shot provided a statement and is currently cooperating with the police investigation.

Aberdeen Police Detectives responded and processed the scene.  Based on statements and the initial investigation, it appears the 28-year-old was attempting to steal a vehicle and when confronted ran at the homeowner.

After being treated and released at Grays Harbor Community Hospital for the gunshot wound, the 28 years old was booked into Aberdeen City Jail pending arraignment for Burglary 2nd Degree and Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft.

The case will be forwarded to GHC Prosecutor's Office for review of the incident.
